How can a place that is called “Zanzibar” not be exotica. It is impossible. It is impossible, to be in the Indian Ocean off the East African coast, in a island that is made of palm trees and whitest white sand, and not feel exotic. Here are my pick of 25 pictures from my latest one week trip to the island to make you drool:
You will meet more long palm trees than people
Mornings in Stone Town
This could be your average afternoon table
If not on the table, you can play with them crabbies
Can you imagine that passion fruit pulp bursting in your mouth
Dinner Menu? You don’t need to read it.
Did you know there’s a full moon party every month in Zanzibar?
If you feel fancy, get that cabana on the beach
Flying over Zanzibar. Period.
You will wait for sunset every damn day
And will not get enough of it
Feeding endangered tortoises who are 100s of years old. Zanzibar surprises you
I realized that these reptiles can beat my husband in being lazy.
This used to be a prison for rebellious slaves back in 18th century
Stone Town: the centre of slave & spice trade back in the day
Stone Town, now a UNESCO heritage site reflects European, Persian, Arab, Indian influence in its architecture
Trip to Zanzibar is not complete without an evening spent at Forodhani garden street food market
Zanzibari Pizza: sweet or savory, your choice
While you lounge here, a vendor will shout ‘Coconutii Drinkki’
You can see your entire self, in the crystal clear turqoise water
And play with them waves at the sand bank
You can have a hammock & a pool in front your villa, which is called MAFIA.
Basically just Pina Colada & Hakuna Matata it, all day long.
